The main threat to agricultural crops are weeds with herbicides being the primary cropping management practice. Due to the negative impact of herbicides on health and environment, their use must be reduced. To replace herbicides, numerous cropping practices need to be implemented. This makes weed management more complicated and, together with necessity of scheduling operations at long-term and the multiplicity of cropping system impacts, explains why models are so useful for designing innovative cropping systems. Recurrent liver metastases of colorectal carcinoma are frequent. The repeat hepatectomy is superior to other therapeutic options. In about 20 % of patients with recurrent liver metastases a complete resection (R 0) is possible. The morbidity of repeat hepatectomy is similar to that of first hepatectomy. The 5-year survival rate after repeat hepatectomy ranges between 30 and 40 %. Often in the follow-up additional operations become necessary for extrahepatic recurrencies. For determination of the optimal therapy an interdisciplinary approach must be chosen.

Watermarking for ontologies

In this paper, we study watermarking methods to prove the ownership of an ontology. Different from existing approaches, we propose to watermark not by altering existing statements, but by removing them. Thereby, our approach does not introduce false statements into the ontology. We show how ownership of ontologies can be established with provably tight probability bounds, even if only parts of the ontology are being re-used. We finally demonstrate the viability of our approach on real-world ontologies.

Discriminating graph pattern mining from gene expression data

We consider the problem of mining gene expression data in order to single out interesting features that characterize healthy/unhealthy samples of an input dataset. We present and approach based on a network model of the input gene expression data, where there is a labelled graph for each sample. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to build a different graph for each sample and, then, to have a database of graphs for representing a sample set. Ecological restoration in contaminated soils of Kokdzhon phosphate mining area (Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan)

Abstract This study provides results of an ecological restoration activity performed in the Kokdzhon phosphate mining of the Zhambyl region (a semi-desert mining area of Kazakhstan). The test area was made by a quarry-hole, about 1.25 hectares wide, that was preliminarily filled with the earthy material of a dump and, subsequently, levelled. The total volume of human transported material (HTM) used was 700 tonnes. Soil samples were taken from 0 to 30 cm depth at 23 sampling sites and several soil quality parameters were determined.
